All Nightbreed possess amazing and terrible Afflictions which allow them to perform amazing feats, such as telekinesis or flight. These powers are more than likely what Naturals fear the most, as certainly the ability to read other people's thoughts or survive a shot to the chest puts Nightbreed at the top of the food chain. Unfortunately, these Afflictions come with a heavy costs such as deforming the afflicted or drawing heavily on their energy. Regardless of the costs, Afflictions certainly allow the Nightbreed to survive from night to night. Whether this means hiding from Naturals and fighting them fang and claw is a matter of personal choice for the Nightbreed. Nightbreed Afflictions are organized into five categories, each corresponding to each of the Breeds. A Breed may never have more selections in another Affliction category as they have in their Breed's Affliction. Thus a Beastie that has selected two Bestial Afflictions can select one or two Necrotic Afflictions, but not three. Certain Afflictions are restricted for selection, such as Metamorphic and Abnormal Afflictions. A Nightbreed will be the most powerful in whatever Afflictions that are under the category specific to their Breed. A Nightbreed can select 5 Afflictions, and only five Afflictions. This does not include a Nightbreed's Primary Affliction. All Nightbreed have the following common Afflictions which do not count against their selection of five. Common AfflictionsNightvision - You can see in total darkness and retain the ability to see hues and colors. Enhanced Senses - You posses heightened senses akin to an animals, including the ability to scent blood from hundreds of feet away and see like a hawk. AfflictionsMystical Afflictions - Mystical Afflictions allow the Nightbreed to perform miracles and produce magical effects. Bestial Afflictions - Bestial Afflictions provide tremendous strength and give Nightbreed natural weapons for protection. Necrotic Afflictions - Necrotic Afflictions increase the resiliency and unnatural durability of the Nightbreed. Metamorphic Afflictions - Metamorphic Afflictions allow Shapeshifters to turn into a variety of different animals and other Breeds to turn into a creature. Abnormal Afflictions - Abnormal Afflictions are disgusting and inhuman physical manifestations that allow Aberrants to do amazing feats.

Mystical Afflictions
Mystical Afflictions are inwardly generated powers that manifest externally; thus, with a thought, a Nightbreed can conjure something using only their will. These powers work very much like the myths about them, as magic, psionic ability, and other wyrdly abilities. Though the manifestations these powers create are potent, they draw heavily upon the internal stores of energy. A Nightbreed who uses these powers without discretion will soon find their reserves tapped and themselves out of power. Mystics are the undisputed masters of Mystical Afflictions, and while a Beastie can have Telekinesis, it will never be as power as a Mystic’s command of the same power.
Telepathy – You can read the thoughts of others and project your thoughts into the mind of others. Empathy – You can read and influence the emotions of others, from blinding anger to sublime happiness. Clairvoyance – You can remotely see and hear events with your mind’s eye from miles away. Warding – You can produce a physical or mental barrier against attacks of a similar nature. Healing – You can sympathetically take on the wounds of another, thus healing them while harming, to a lesser extent, yourself. Elemental Conjuration – You can produce one of the elements for various effects. (Pick one element and change the Afflictions title to ______ Conjuration, with the element in the blank) Telekinesis – You can move objects with the power of your mind. Precognition – You catch glimpses and portents of the future, either immediate events or far off prophesies. Teleportation – You can disappear from location and reappear in another location in the blink of an eye. (Characters can only teleport to places they have been to before) Illusions – You can produce phantasms of the mind that seem real and can be used to frighten, warn, or entertain others. Attunement – You can attune yourself to a person, place, or thing and experience all of their sensations and senses. Incorporeity - You can turn yourself incorporeal, unable to affect the world or be affected by it.

Bestial Afflictions
Bestial Afflictions generally concern physical abilities and outwardly biological manifestations. The natural weapons of animals, the terrifying strength of beasts, and the destructive power of muscle are all under the purview of Bestial Afflictions. Beasties and other Breeds who posses Bestial Afflictions must be careful, because there is no variable use of these powers. A beast is a beast after all, and a beast that can crush a car will have a difficult time handling fragile objects. While other Breeds can certainly brandish sharp claws and lift heavy stones, none can do so with the savageness and the overwhelming potency of a Beastie.
Claws – You posses wicked claws on your hands and feet, allowing you to slash others to ribbons and climb remarkably well. Fangs – Your mouth is full of needle-pointed teeth, capable of reducing flesh and objects to ruins. Stinger – You posses a poisonous barb somewhere on your body which produces either deadly or soporific neurotoxins. Spines – Your body is covered in quills, horns, spikes, or other sharp protrusions that allow you to skewer your enemy. Tail – You have one or more tails on your body which can be used to hit others, grab objects, or give you superior balance. Fins – Your digits are webbed and your body has grown fins, making you preternaturally fast in the water. Constrict – You can crush beings and objects in your terribly strong arms or grip objects with unearthly might. Leap – Your leg muscles are overdeveloped, allowing you leap incredible distances. Rend – You can tear nearly any object in half, including stones, car engines, and unfortunate victims. Fling – You can toss objects incredible distances, regardless of their aerodynamics or weight. Lift – You can haul up staggeringly heavy objects and carry them for great distances. Smash – Your fists, feet, or face can reduce any object to powder with their ferocious pummeling.

Necrotic Afflictions
Necrotic Afflictions are usually internal, physical Deformities that make Nightbreed even tougher than they unnaturally are. These Afflictions are how a Nightbreed can survive being beaten, stabbed, shot, burned, electrocuted, and mutilated without so much as a scratch. While no Nightbreed is completely invulnerable, there are certainly Nightbreed who can withstand enough damage to seem invincible. Necrotic Afflictions can protect against mundane forms of damage, but no Affliction can protect a Nightbreed from the vengeful eye of the Sun. While any Breed can possess the ability to whether tremendous physical abuse, none will be able to shrug off the devastating injuries the Undead can.
Iron Bones – Your bones are terribly strong and falls from incredible heights or high speed impacts do little to harm you. Redundant Organs – You have multiple sets of vital organs or you no longer need them to function, thus damaging them does not harm the rest of you. Solid – Your body is incredibly tough and resistant to blunt force trauma. Leathery Skin – Your skin is hard and leathery, making it extremely resistant to tearing and cutting. Grounded – You are highly resistant to electrical discharges and can stand even the deadliest of voltages. Bulletproof – You are unharmed by conventional firearm rounds for whatever reason, be it tough skin or dead innards. Anaerobic – You do not require oxygen to survive and poisonous gasses have no effect on you. Insulated – You are unharmed by even the most severe of frigid temperatures and you suffer no frostbite. Fire Retardant – You are unaffected by the hottest flames or the highest temperatures. Regenerative – You are able to regrow limbs and digits that have been suffered, but not the flesh covering them. Sacs – You have a series of sacs in your body which trap and hold toxins so they cannot harm your internal system. Exoskeleton – You skin has large patches and growth of bone that protect you from physical harm but restrict your movement.

Metamorphic Afflictions
Metamorphic Afflictions are the transfiguring abilities of Shapeshifters, allowing them to breathe new forms out over their existing ones. These Afflictions allow the Nightbreed to escape and hide from pursuers, spy on the Naturals, and fight when necessary. These therianthropic abilities are the purview of the Shapeshifters alone, whose innate connection the natural world grant them the ability to become animals. However, other Breeds can affect unnatural imitations of animals, that while never be mistaken for anything natural still give the Nightbreed animal abilities. Truly accomplished Shapeshifters can even become the stuff of legends, taking on the form of mighty dragons, beautiful unicorns, or other mythological creatures.
Predatory Mammals – You can shift your form into any predatory land mammal such as a wolf, a lion, or a hyena. Large Mammals – You can shift your form into any large land mammal such as an elephant, a bear, or a wildebeest. Small Mammals – You can shift your form into any small land mammal such as a squirrel, a cat, or a monkey. Reptiles – You can shift your form into any reptile such as a chameleon, a crocodile, or a snake. Insects – You can shift your form into any insect such as an ant, a scorpion, or a butterfly. Predatory Fliers – You can shift your form into any predatory flying animal such as a hawk, an owl, or an eagle. Small Fliers – You can shift your form into any small flying animal such as a bat, a sparrow, or a swan. Predatory Aquatics – You can shift your form into any aquatic predator such as a shark, a moray eel, or a squid. Aquatics – You can shift your form into any aquatic mammal, fish, or amphibian such as a dolphin, a crab, or a newt. Plants – You can shift your form into any plant such as a tree, a vine, or a flower. Mythical Creature – You can shift your form into any one mythical creature such as a Chimera, a Tengu, or a Pukwudgie. Single Facsimile – You can shift your form into an approximation of an animal that is fundamentally unnatural in appearance. (This is the only Metamorphic Affliction a non-Shapeshifter Breed can select.)

Abnormal Afflictions
Abnormal Afflictions are wonderful and terrible Deformities that provide both a hindrance and a boon to Aberrants and other Breeds. These are the Afflictions that truly give Nightbreed their monstrous appearance and reputation. Whether clockwork monstrosities or gelatinous beings, Aberrants and their Abnormal Afflictions are amazing if unusual manifestations of the Tribes of the Moon’s unnaturalness. While other Breeds may exhibit an Abnormal Deformity, this will always be a singular occurrence. Aberrants on the other hand are often riddled with Abnormal Afflictions and are freakish and fantastical in appearance. Only Aberrants may select more than one Abnormal Afflictions. Obviously some Abnormal Afflictions may not be selected with the other, such as Tiny and Huge; choose only one of these Afflictions. Alternative Abnormal Afflictions not listed here may be pitched to any Administrator; we will more than likely allow it, especially if it’s creative and disgusting!
Tiny – You are under two feet in height and can use your small size to get into areas not normally accessible. Huge – You are over eight feet in height and possess the resulting strength and resiliency of that height, as well as the intimidating presence. Mechanical – Your body is composed of metal and gears, essentially the form of a robot with all the amazing capabilities that go with it. Secretions – Your body secrets amazing fluids and unguents such as poisons or slick oils. Adhesive – Your body secrets a sticky substance that allows you to adhere to the wall or ceilings. Nightmare – Your form is terrifying to behold and stimulates the most primal fear receptors of the human mind. Two-headed – You have two-heads which may or may not have a single consciousness. Chitinous – Your body is covered in a hardened shell like that of an insect or a crab, allowing you to whether terrible punishment. Winged – Your body possesses wings are varied design which allow you to fly like a bird. Elemental Form – Your form is composed not of flesh and bones, but of fire, ice, water, or other elements. Phylactery – You have no body and your soul resides in an object while you take control of corpses to interact with the physical world. Multiple/Special Limbs – Your possess a number of limbs that are either exactly like your existing limbs or specialized limbs such as tentacles.
