Riverside is marked by a strange dichotmy. While the blue collar lumberjacks man the sawmills along the river, rich tourists embark on lazy steamboat rides down the Coquille. Rowdy taverns cater to the roughnecks, where a good drink and an even better fight can be found. Conversely, stately docks berth opulent multi-tiered steamboats that allow the rich to frolic and gamble on the winding river. There are also public docks at Riverside, where locals can keep their small boats used for leisure and fishing. Riverside also features one of the best fish shacks in Oregon, where an actual Brit has brought the proper method of fish and chips preparation. This fish shop is extremely popular with the teenagers of Coquille, who will often skip school around lunch to snack down here. Riverside is popular with the teens for other reasons as well; reasons not related to delicious fried foods. Seedier elements go down on Riverside, such as the trafficking of drugs. The ugly truth is that Coquille is small enough that drug dealers use the river as a lowtech smuggling conduit. Some of these drugs invariably get passed along to citizens as bored teenagers decide to experiment and roughnecks unwind. Go to Riverside
