A slice of Americana, the Easy 8 Rest Stop is the largest convenience store and truck stop along the Oregon interstate. It exists as the only gas station and eatery along the interstate for miles, so it sees regular traffic from tourists, truckers, and the highway patrol. A bus stop serves as the main means of long-distance travel out of Coquille for those citizens without private means of transportation.
The Easy 8 features a large bank of refueling pumps, several for diesel trucks along a long stretch where they can park. A chemical pump in the rear of the Easy 8 allows RV owners to dispose of their wastes with discretion. A series of manual car wash stations allow motorists to clean the mud and bug guts from their cars before embarking on the road again.
The Easy 8's main feature is the impressive store in the center, where travelers can find everything from snacks and drinks to electronics and clothing. Many residents of Coquille are fond of checking the inventory of the Easy 8 for new electronics, as the only electronics store in town deals more in repair than new products. Right next to the store is the Easy 8 greasy spoon, a top-notch diner that serves the best breakfast in Coos county. While normally it is unwise to trust seafood at a truckstop diner, the Easy 8 has ready access to fresh fish and crayfish thanks to the Coos river in Coquille.
The Easy 8 also features one of these nicest motels in all of Oregon. Doubles, singles, and even family rooms are offered at reasonable prices. They are kept immaculate by the staff and are soundproofed enough that the rumbling trucks outside don't bother any customers. A lovely park in the rear of the motel provides children with a place to play and travelers with a place to exercise their pent up pooches.
The most important aspect of the Easy 8, however, is it is the only entrance from the highway to Coquille. A large four lane road runs perpendicular the interstate, right next to the Easy 8. A small tourist information kiosk stands on just the other side of the road from the Easy 8, offering information about what tourists can enjoy in Coquille. A giant roadside billboard proclaims that tourists are within miles of Coquille, a wonderful place to visit. It tells of the wonderful cabins available for families to rent as well as the best fly fishing in all of Coos county. Every once in a while, a bored teenager will add their own opinion to Coquille to the billboard, almost as if it were a rite of passage.
